Peggy Meredith Pritchett, 77, of Toddville, MD went to be with her heavenly father on December 5, 2017 at Chesapeake Woods Care Center in Cambridge, MD. She was born on December 2, 1940 in Cambridge, Peggy was the daughter of the late Hubert Webster and Catherine Ewell Meredith.
Peggy grew up and spent her whole life in Toddville, where she attended school. In 1958, she graduated from South Dorchester High School with honors, where she excelled in sports. After graduation, Peggy was employed at Meredith and Meredith Seafood in Toddville for over 50 years, where she was office manager. On September 22, 1961, Peggy married her best friend Melvin. Together they were blessed with a daughter, Julie. Peggy loved to be outdoors, especially feeding all of God’s creatures, including the birds, deer, and cats that took up residence. She enjoyed listening to music, watching tv, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.
Peggy was a born again Christian, who dedicated her life to her savior. She took pride in her country church, Zion United Methodist Church of Toddville. There, she served as Superintendent of the Sunday school, Sunday school teacher, choir member, but what was most rewarding to her was being a Lay Speaker for the St. Thomas Charge. She was also a member of the Homemakers Club and the United Methodist Women’s Organization. She did all of those things until her health began to fail.
The family would also like to thank the entire staff at Chesapeake Woods Center, for the wonderful care they gave to Peggy for the four years she was there.
She is survived by her husband Melvin of Toddville, and daughter Julie Pritchett of Edgewater, MD, sister in law Lucille Rigby and husband Jack of Blades, DE, brother in law Oneal Pritchett and wife Lois of Milton, DE and brother in law Rufus Pritchett and wife Charlotte of Cambridge as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was proceeded in death by her grandparents Reginald and Willey Insley Ewell and Webster and Lula Mason Meredith.
Pallbearers will be Davis Pritchett, Ronnie Pritchett, Gilbert Hart, Donnie Simmons, Scott Shipley and Jim Gallo.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 12 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. David L. Kreek officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Chesapeake Woods Homestead Unit, ear marked for their activity fund, 525 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
