Peggy G. Tyler, 93, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Homestead Manor in Denton. She was born in Cambridge on July 2, 1927 and was a daughter of the late James and Edith Willey Gould.
Mrs. Tyler graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1944. On November 10, 1946, she married Robert James Tyler, who passed away on January 11, 2004. She worked at Edgar's, and C&P Telephone Company, but most of her life she was a happy homemaker. Mrs. Tyler volunteered at the Robin Hood Shop and at the Dorchester General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Tyler was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for 75 plus years, where she was involved in many activities, especially Vacation Bible School. She also attended Dr. Hines Bible Class, AARP, American Legion Post #91, and Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW.
She is survived by a son James “Jim” R. Tyler and wife Cathy of Cambridge, two daughters Linda Tyler Smith and husband Dennis of Snow Hill and Bonnie Tyler Usilton of Wye Mills, three grandchildren JW Tyler, Jeffrey Tyler and Sheri Smith-Cowell, six great grandchildren Greg, Justin, and Anna Tyler, Ella Rose, Liam, and Jack Cowell and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Tyler is preceded in death by a brother Mitchell Gould, a sister Betty Maguire and a son in law Glenn Usilton.
Honorary pallbearers will be JW Tyler, Jeffrey Tyler, Justin Tyler, Dennis Smith, Greg Tyler and Akba Cowell.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 2 pm at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev.’s Chris Pettit and Douglas M. Ridley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 815, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Robin Hood Shop, 416 High Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Face mask and social distancing is required.
