Philip M. Brooks, Sr., 77, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at UMSMC at Easton. He was born in Woolford on March 25, 1941 and was a son of the late William Brooks, Sr. and Edith Wroten Brooks.
Mr. Brooks attended schools in Cambridge. He served in the U.S. Army. On March 8, 1977, he married the former Sarah Parks. Mr. Brooks worked at Lif- O-Gen and later at Cambridge Wire Belts, where he retired. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and was a member of the Cambridge Moose Lodge, and Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Brooks of Cambridge, two sons Philip Brooks, Jr. and wife Vicki of East New Market and Robert Brooks and wife Rena of Secretary, three stepchildren Michael Wingate of Cambridge, Juanita Townsend and husband Calvert of East New Market, Wendy Schasel of Easton, five grandchildren Terry Wilcut, Jr., Tabatha Elzey, Katelyn Brooks, Robert Brooks, Jr., and Kyle Brooks, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, and a brother William Brooks, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Brooks is preceded in death by two brothers Jimmy and Davis Brooks.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:30 am at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 and one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
