Philip E. Wroten, 70, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Cambridge on November 4, 1938 and was a son of the late Ira G. and Lettie Bromwell Wroten.

He attended schools in Dorchester County. Mr. Wroten served in the U.S. Navy. He had worked at several shirt factories and later he worked for Air Liquide and retired in 2004. He was a collecter of old cars, liked fishing and watching television. Mr. Wroten was a member of American Legion Post 91 and Cambridge Lodge #1272 BPOE Elks.

He is survived by his companion Cecelia M. Bowers of Cambridge, a daughter Tonya Leborne and her two daughters all of Cambridge, two great grandchildren, a nephew David Harrison of Ocean Pines, stepchildren Donna Mann and her companion Jimmy Travers of Cambridge and Jackie Bowers and his wife Karen of Hurlock, step grandchildren Tracey Hubble and husband David of Federalsburg, Stacy Kimmey and husband Brian of Cambridge, Jackilynn Bowers of Hurlock and Jonathan Brittingham of Hurlock, step great grandchildren Tyler Kimmey, Austin Kimmey, Scotty Moore and Shane Hubble. Besides his parents, Mr. Wroten is preceded in death by a sister Patricia Parker.

Pallbearers will be Fred Smith, Eugene Harper, Ronnie Bromwell, Mike Ward, Frankie Koski and Jimmy Travers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hubble, Brian Kimmey and Jackie Bowers.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
