Prosper E. Sanchez, D.O.

Prosper Emilio Sanchez, D.O., 45, of Cambridge passed away on August 28, 2011 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on January 12, 1966 and was a son of Maritza Ruiz Sanchez and the late Fernando Arturo Sanchez, M.D.

Prosper graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda. He continued to college and graduated from University of Maryland College Park majoring in Biology and continued to medical school and graduated in 1995 from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) in Long Island, New York. He did his residency at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore and worked at Charm City Medical Associations in Baltimore until March of 2005 when he retired due to his health. Despite his physical limitations, he enjoyed life, had many hobbies and wrote poetry up until his last day. In December of 2010 he published his first book of poetry "Bewildered: Poetry of Life, Love, and Nature." At the time of his death he was working on his second book.

He is survived by his mother Maritza R. Sanchez of Cambridge, maternal grandmother Titi, aunts Nelly, Patria and Maria, uncle Franklin, a half sister Zulma Sanchez of Washington, DC, and many cousins, among them Patricia, Fafo, Rico, Alberto, Alfredo, Ique, Lyn and Julia. Besides his father, Prosper is preceded in death by a brother Fernando Arturo Sanchez, Jr.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church with Father William Lawler officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made by visiting www.kiva.org.
