Rachel Beckwith (Beckwith) Mayne

Rachel B. Mayne, 96, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Cambridge on May 5, 1918 and was a daughter of the late Leland and Alice LeCompte Beckwith.

Mrs. Mayne graduated from Cambridge High School. She was first married to Ronald Weldon Bryan and later on November 26, 1969, she married Granville D. Mayne, who passed away on December 17, 1989. Mrs. Mayne was a seamstress for several different shirt factories. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her family. Mrs. Mayne was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and also volunteered at the Robin Hood Shop.

She is survived by a daughter Carolyn Robinson of Cambridge, grandchildren Julie Merrick (Steve), Marilyn Treiber (David), Fred Robinson, Jr., great grandchildren Douglas Burton, Jr., Heather Meekins, TJ Meekins, Laurie Merrick, Tish Blessing, Rachel Treiber, Rebecca Treiber and Olivia Robinson, several great-great grandchildren, a brother Leland Beckwith, Jr. of East New Market and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Mayne is preceded in death by two sisters Leona Aaron and Clara Spedden.

Pallbearers will be Fred Robinson, Jr., David Treiber, Steve Merrick, Douglas Burton, Jr., TJ Merrick and Jim Duffy.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Jimmy Harper officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
