Raymond L. Sheets, Sr

Raymond L. Sheets, 93, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Mallard Bay Care Center. He was born in Robbins on September 6, 1920 and was the son of the late Ray W. Sheets and Elizabeth Robbins Sheets.

Ray was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Ray married the former Sara Jones on May 14, 1977. He was owner/operator of Sheets Flower Shoppe for 68 years and retired in 2006. Ray enjoyed meeting his coffee buddies at McDonalds and also his coffee buddies at Conifer Village. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 91.

He is survived by his wife Sara Sheets of Cambridge, his children Stephanie Sheets, Raymond Sheets, Jr. and Jamie Saulsbury, several grandchildren, a sister Suzanne Jefferson of Easton and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Sheets is preceded in death by a brother Harold Sheets and two sisters Doris Rue and Dulcie Linthicum Thamert.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 12 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. William Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
