R. David Chase, 57, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury following a short illness. He was born on March 9, 1958 in Cambridge Maryland Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Shelley Rodgerson Chase, originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and presently of Cambridge, and was the oldest son of Roger and Arline Chase of Cambridge.

Mr. Chase (Dave) will be cremated and part of his ashes will be scattered according to his wishes. The remainder will be held in honored remembrance by his wife, Shelley.

Dave was raised and attended school in Dorchester County, where he enjoyed participating in many community activities, including band in both grade and high school. He was a Boy Scout, an avid fisherman in his youth, and participated in Little League Baseball. He played drums both in school and as a recreational activity.

Dave was well known for his mechanical skills, a trade he practiced from an early age, and that he learned, in part, from his grandfather, the late Arlington Adkins.

He met his wife, Shelley, on the Internet in 2002 and they married in Cambridge on June 20, 2004. Together they established their home on Hudson Wharf Road where they enjoyed a wide range of friends and neighbors along with a mutual love of music and pets.

In addition to his wife, Shelley, Dave is survived by his mother-in-law Viola Rodgerson of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada; his brothers-in-law Doug (Kim) Rodgerson and their children Amy, Ashley, and Brandyn; and Guy (Shelley) Rodgerson with their children Austin and Noah; as well as a sister-in-law, Betty Rodgerson Neuert (Orley) with their children Melissa Danziel and Jennifer Forrester, all of Canada.

In addition to his parents, Roger and Arline Chase, Mr. Chase is survived by his brother, Sidney Richard Chase, of Vienna, and his brother’s dear friend Kathy Lowe Walker, of Salem, and several first and second cousins in Florida.

He was preceded in death by father-in-law, Lorne Rodgerson; his grandparents, Arlington and Margaret Adkins of Hudson; Sidney Waldo Chase and Amelia Chase Kristler of Jacktown; and a beloved uncle and aunt, Robert Stoker and Hilda Chase Hill, also of Jacktown.

A memorial service will be held at Spedden United Methodist Church in Hudson on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. with the Pastor Pam Bockart conducting the ceremony. Friends will be welcomed at the church hall after the funeral service in Hudson on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Rd, Cambridge MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
