Rebecca "Becky" C. Cheezum

Rebecca “Becky” C. Cheezum, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at Mallard Bay Care Center on Sunday, April 13, 2014. She was born in Oxford on December 29, 1920 and was a daughter of the late Howard Lee and Clara Skipper Coleman.

Becky graduated from Trappe High School class of 1938. For more than thirty years, she was treasurer of the Countryside Christian Church in Cambridge. She was also employed with the First National Bank in Cambridge, Dawkins Market in Easton, W.T. Grants in Easton, and the Colonial Store in Cambridge. Becky had a small wallpaper hanging business as well. She was baptized into Christ on February 16, 1970 and was a member of the Countryside Christian Church.

She is survived by a brother Elmer Coleman of Illinois, a special niece Tina Schwickerath and husband Clair of Cambridge, a great nephew Garland Smith of Cambridge, and numerous other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters Earl Coleman, Clara Lee Steward, Virginia Hurley, Howard Lee Coleman, Jr., Charles Coleman, James Coleman, John Coleman, Carroll Coleman, Leonard Coleman, William Coleman, and Etta Bainbridge, who was Elmer’s twin.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Ruark, Mark Hurley, Hanks Henry, Al Moore, Garland Smith and Aaron Ruark.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Countryside Christian Church with Rev. David L. Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Countryside Christian Church, 5333 Austin Rd., Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
