Rebecca L. Shenton

Rebecca “Becky” Lee Shenton (Abbott), beloved wife of 61 years to Robert “Bobby” M Shenton, and cherished Sister to Janet E Brinkman (Abbott), passed away peacefully on, December 4, 2024, at the age of 83. Rebecca was born on October 15, 1941, and grew up in Dorchester County where she became a lifelong resident. Becky was preceded in death by both her Father and her Mother, James “Wilson” Abbott and Ruby Abbott (Willey). She is survived by her husband Bobby, sister Janet, and her niece Lisa Zeigler (Rippons).

Becky cherished her years of marriage to Bobby and often recounted their meeting at the age of 15. Their partnership was one that served as an example of commitment, kindness, and mutual respect and lasted through the test of time. 

For many years, Becky worked at several local jewelry stores, Henry Devos, Oscar Kaplan, and Lednum’s, where she was known for her warmth, attention to detail and exceptional customer service. She took great pride in helping people select beautiful pieces for life’s special moments, always bringing a personal touch to her work. It was while working for an estate jeweler, Oscar Kaplan that Becky met and sold an estate piece to Whoopy Goldberg when she was filming Clara’s Heart in St. Michaels.

Becky was known for her generous spirit and the love she shared with friends and family. She made a lasting impact on the people she met up until her final moments. Her family will remember her through her impeccable memory and ability to share a story with flair. 

In accordance with her wishes, Becky will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, where she will be remembered with love and respect. Rebecca will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
