Rebecca "Honey" R. Peders, formerly of Robbins, MD and Wrightsville Beach, NC passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at
St.
Elizabeth
Hospital
at Edgewood, Kentucky. She was 80 years old, born on
March 11, 1930 at Cambridge, MD and was a daughter of the late Alexander B. and Ruby E. Simmons Robbins.
She graduated high school in Robbins, MD. She also graduated from Salisbury State College with a teacher's degree and her first teaching assignment was at Peachblossom Elementary School. Mrs. Peders continued her education in Clinical Psychology at University of Maryland College Park and two more years at Johns Hopkins. Later, Mrs. Peders was the school psychology and reading specialist for Edmonson Heights Elementary School. She retired with 30 years of service in 1986.
On May 10, 1952 she married Thorvald S. Peders of Wilmington, NC. He passed away on March 23, 1993. Mrs. Peders was a member of Bounds United Methodist Church and she taught Bible Study at Trinity Bible Church in Severna Park.
She is survived by a son Thorvald S. Peders, Jr. of Laurel, MD, a daughter Teresa C. Sheehan formerly of Wrightsville Beach, NC, three grandchildren Jason Michael Curry, Stacy McEleney and Stephanie Robertson, five great grandchildren Jessica Cummings, Rebecca Daniels, Kyle McEleney, Aidan McEleney and Leah McEleney, three sisters Annabelle Robbins of Cambridge, Jean Murphree of Alexandria, VA, Patricia Juric of Wilmington, NC and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Peders is preceded in death by two sisters Mina Rossy and Crenia Robbins.
Pallbearers will be Thorvald "Ted" Peders, Jr.,
Robert "Bob" Sheehan, Lawrence "Larry" Fritz, Jason Curry, William "Bill" Rumbley, Joseph "Joe" Juric.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Murphree, Charley Lednum, Wayne Harrington, Dennis Miko and Evin Gossin.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. Gary Crouch officiating. Interment will follow at Sandy Island Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
