Rebecca T. "Becky" Spicer

Rebecca T. Spicer "Becky", 80, of Cambridge, loving and compassionate friend to many passed away on April 22, 2009 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was born in Fishing Creek on April 24, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Andrew and Flora Booze Tolley.

Mrs. Spicer graduated from Hoopers Island High School. On August 15, 1953 she married Barton T. Spicer. He passed away on January 21, 1992. Barton and Becky owned and operated Spicer's Seafood Restaurant for ten years. Becky enjoyed spending time with her friends, card club, "the lunch bunch" and Dorchester County Garden Club. Becky was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was in the Wesley Circle, Dr. Hines' Bible Class and she served on the Board of Trustees. Becky was a lifelong member of the Homemakers of America, as well as a member of the Cambridge Yacht Club, Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary, Dorchester Historical Society, Dorchester Center for the Arts and the American Legion Post 91 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters Lynne Davis and husband Harvey of Cambridge and Jacalyn Spicer Frey and husband Scott of Hagerstown. She was the nurturing grandmother of eight grandchildren, Barton Frey, Heather Frey Burke, Jennifer Frey Bigelow, Peter Frey, Daryl Frey, Joseph Frey, Julie Davis Langlie and John Davis. Becky also adored her four great grandchildren, Andrew Frey, Matthew Burke, Brayden Burke and Tatum Davis as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Spicer is preceded in death by three brothers, Calvert Tolley, Everett Tolley and Hobart Tolley and two sisters, Cecilia Vickers and Janet Jennings.

Pallbearers will be Barton Frey, Daryl Frey, Peter Frey, John Davis, Scott Burke, Kevin Bigelow and Matt Langlie.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Hurley officiating. Family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Old Trinity Churchyard.
