Rev. William K. George, 93 of Cambridge, passed away at the Kankakee Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois of Wednesday, December 1, 2010. He was born in Belle Allen, Alabama on October 12, 1917, andwas a son of the late Thomas and Dovie Jane Burns George.
On December 13, 1941 he was married to the former Madonna Sell. Mrs. George passed away on August 9, 2004. Rev. George had served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Rev. George had been the Pastor at the Church of the Nazarene in Cambridge from 1962 until 2006. He had also worked at the Dorchester Co. Department of Social Services in Cambridge.
Survivors include one daughter Patricia George Patton and her husband Tom Patton of Bourbonnais, Illinois, one son William K. George, Jr. of Gothenburg, Sweden; six grandchildren William P. Patton, Juliene R. Patton, Shelley R. Patton, N. Wade Patton, Robert W. George, Anthony K. George.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Nazarene in Cambridge with the Rev. Richard Prahl and the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, 97 Sandy Hill Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
