Rev. Roy D. Collins

Rev. Roy D. Collins, 89, of Easton, passed away peacefully at UMSMC at Easton on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. He was born in Elkins, West Virginia on April 6, 1935 to the late John William Collins and Effie Grace White Collins.

Roy completed his education in West Virginia and Maryland. His first meeting with the love of his life, Joyce Shirk, happened while attending church. They married on October 4, 1958. Together, they pastored and built multiple churches in several states. He also had a great vision for church development and growth. His last pastoral position was held for the past 12 years at Souls Harbor Church of God in Cambridge.

Rev. Collins started his day with his hand on the Bible and a prayer in his soul. He was a hunting and fishing enthusiast and enjoyed being in nature. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and pastor. Roy loved people, but most of all loved his family and church family.

In addition to his wife, Rev. Collins is survived by three children: Mark William Collins (Connie), Jane Grace Collins, Kenneth James Collins (Marie), three grandchildren: Kristin Marie Lockerman Collins (Robbie), Tyler William Collins (Elysia), Zachary Donald Collins, and three great grandchildren: Emma Jade Collins, Anna Grace Collins and Kent Maximilian Edler.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11 am at Souls Harbor Church of God located at 718 Peachblossom Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613. If friends wish to send memorial donations in memory of Rev. Roy, the family suggests Souls Harbor Church of God.
