Rev. Dr. C. Bruce Revel, 59 of Delmar, passed away suddenly on Sunday August 3, 2008 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born in Milford, Delaware on June 18, 1949 and was a son of Evelyn Collins Revel and the late Clifford Revel.
He attended schools in Millsboro and graduated from Millsboro High School in 1967 and also graduated from the University of Delaware in 1972. After graduating from college he worked at Acme Markets in Pocomoke as a store manager. He later graduated from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC where he first earned a Master of Divinity Degree and later received his Doctor of Ministry Degree. On April 19, 1969 he was married to the former Karen Sirman. While attending seminary he served as pastor of the Kittrell Baptist Church in Kittrell, NC. Rev. Dr. Revel then served as pastor at the First Baptist Church in Cambridge for 14 years. He later served as senior pastor at Colesville Baptist Church in Silver Spring, MD, and had served as Director of Missions for the Eastern Baptist Assoc. since 2001. Rev. Dr. Revel had been serving as interim pastor at the First Baptist Church in Hurlock since January. He enjoyed spending time with his grand children and playing golf. Rev. Dr. Revel was stricken suddenly at his home on Sunday morning and was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he passed away.
Survivors include his wife Karen K. Revel of Delmar, one son Mark C. Revel of Newark, DE, one daughter Tara Fahrubel and her husband Chad Fahrubel of Sugar Valley, GA, four grandchildren Austin Revel, Zachary Revel both of East New Market, Jacob Inman and Brooke Inman of Sugar Valley, GA, his mother Evelyn Revel of Millsboro, one brother Jeff A. Revel and his wife Kathy Revel of Millsboro and three nephews Christopher Revel, Justin Revel and Brian Rogers and two nieces Julie Abbott and Kelly Clendaniel. He was preceded in death by his father.
A funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church on Glenburn Avenue in Cambridge with the Rev. Walter Agnor officiating. Interment will follow at Carey's Cemetery at Millsboro, Delaware. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. at 700 Locust Street in Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Baptist Assoc., 309 W. College Avenue, Salisbury, Maryland 21801.Pallbearers will be Kevin Asplen, James "JC" Collins, Pastor Terry Davis, Pastor Andy Ehlers, Troy Glessner and John Russ.
