Richard “Dickie” L. Willey, 84, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at UMSMC at Easton. He was born in Cambridge on May 19, 1933 and was a son of the late John A. and Myrtle Johnson Willey.
Dickie attended schools in Cambridge. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. On March 13, 1956, he married the former Elizabeth Turner, who passed away on March 28, 2013. Dickie was employed with McCrory’s Five and Dime for 17 years and later with Cambridge Wire Cloth for 30 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 91.
He is survived by three daughters Cindy Lee Vogel of Cambridge, Candy Lynn Elliott and husband Keith of Hurlock and Christi Lane Willey of Cambridge, seven grandchildren Ryan Phillips, John Travers, Jr., Matthew Travers, Patrick Travers, Cory Leisner and wife Brandy and their daughter that is due in August, Amanda Leisner and Justin Elliott, a great grandchild Josie Lee Travers, a sister Frances Nadilo and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Willey is preceded in death are brother’s Raymond, Buddy, Russell and Morris “Johnny” Willey and sister’s Ruth Bramble, Evelyn Spedden, Norma Lee Bramble and Hazel Holley.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 12 pm at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to The United People's Church, 4186 Osborne Road, Hurlock, MD 21643 or to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
