Robert B. Neil

Rob Neil, born August 5, 1981, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 9th. Rob’s life was marked by his dedication to both his passions and his family.

Growing up, Rob was a talented athlete, excelling as a swimmer on the Dallas High School swim team and competing in the Keystone Olympics. His love for swimming continued through his time at Lycoming College. He continued swimming as an adult through competing in triathlons. Rob competed in the 2014 Ironman Maryland event, and he participated in many local runs. Beyond swimming, Rob found joy in golf, spending many Saturdays on the course, and relished weekends fishing on his boat with his friends.

Rob was also deeply committed to serving his country. He was a sergeant in the Army, serving in Iraq, and he was awarded a Bronze Star. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Bruce Neil, and his beloved grandparents: Pearl and Rollin Relyea of Tupper Lake, New York, and Bill and Eleanor Neil of Trucksville, Pennsylvania.

Rob is survived by his wife, Rebecca Fox, mother, Judy Neil, and his brother, Michael Andrew Neil in addition to many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rob also had many wonderful friends including Victoria Griffith, David Cybuck, Steve Batory, Jay Butz, and Jerry Hayes and many other friends at work and in Cambridge. His family and friends will remember him fondly for his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought into their lives.

A memorial service celebrating Rob’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 11 am, at Thomas Funeral Home. Dress is business casual. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rob’s memory to Pauline F. & W. David Robbins Family YMCA to provide swimming lesson scholarships, 201 Talbot Avenue, Cambridge, MD 21613. 

Rob will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering spirit, dedication, and the love he shared with those around him.
