Robert A. Burns, 79, of Eden passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at his home. He was born in Mineloa, Long Island, New York and was a son of the late Trevor and Margaret McCracken Burns.
Mr. Burns graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1948. He attended and graduated from University Of Maryland College Park where he received his BS Degree in mechanical engineering and later graduated from University of Virginia in Charlottesville where he received his master's degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1953.
On June 8, 1958 he married the former Ann Rue. He worked for NASA at Wallops Island as an engineer for 31 years. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and gardening. He attended Asbury U.M. Church in Salisbury.
He is survived by his wife Ann R. Burns of Eden, a brother John T. Burns of Seaford, DE, a nephew and two nieces. Besides his parents, Mr. Burns is preceded in death by two brothers George W. Burns and T. Barry Burns.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert L. Thomas, Charles S. Dunham, William Brence, P. Smith Rue, Donald Rathel and Alan Dykes

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
