Mr. Hanlin attended schools in West Virginia. He served in the 1st Marine Corps Division from 1951 until 1953. He served in a 105 field artillery firing battery in Korea. On December 16, 1972 he was married to the former Eleanor Lilburn. Mr. Hanlin worked as a carpenter for most of his life and had worked at the Census Bureau as well as the Pentagon as a carpenter as well as the Watergate. They have made their home in Cambridge since 1990. He enjoyed woodworking and making curio cabinets, gun cabinets and furniture, and also enjoyed deer hunting. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge, American Legion in Laurel, MD and VFW in Mt. Storm, West Virginia. He had been a patient at Chesapeake Woods Center since June of 2007 where he passed away on Saturday evening.
Survivors include his wife Eleanor L. Hanlin of Cambridge, two daughters Gloria Jean Keith of Savage, MD and Beverly Dawn Fanelli of Germantown, MD, three grandchildren one brother Donald M. Hanlin of Mt Storm, West Virginia and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Marcella Lancaster and Norma Kitzmiller and one brother Russell Hanlin.
