Robert E. Kramer, Sr

Robert E. Kramer, Sr., 69, of Hudson passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born in Baltimore on March 29, 1944 and was a son of the late George E. and Dorothy Harmel Kramer.

Mr. Kramer graduated from high school in 1962 at Wheelus Air Force Base, Tripoli, Libya, Africa, where his father worked for the military. Bob served four years with the U.S. Navy Seabees including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He attended Goldey Beacom College and Wilmington College. Bob married the former Shirley Faye Marshall on August 30, 1969.

He retired from the State of Maryland, Income Tax Division and worked for 14 years at Cambridge, Inc. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, watching Ravens football, reading and spending time with his dog, Candy.

He was a 40 year member of the Neck District Volunteer Fire Company and twice served as President of the Dorchester County Volunteer Fireman's Association. Bob was also a member of the Riviera Beach Volunteer Fire Company in Pasadena, MD. He was a member of the Ruritan, past volunteer for the Red Cross, Pleasant Day and Dorchester Emergency Management.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Faye Kramer of Hudson, a son Robert "Rob" E. Kramer, Jr. and wife Heather of Hurlock and step grandchildren Collin and Emma Kemp. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother William G. Kramer.

Pallbearers will be Robert Kramer, Jr., Ricky Cannon, Tom Krocheski, Ed Howard, Keith Howard and Dennis Gilliard. Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Joe Lowe.

A fireman's funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Those who wish to do so may make memorial contributions in memory of Bob to the Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
