Robert Paul Creighton of Cambridge, Maryland passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born December 18, 1944, to parents Margaret Pink Creighton and Everett Paul Creighton, Jr.
Robert was raised in Cambridge and attended school there graduating from Cambridge High School in 1962. After high school he attended Western Maryland College where he was a member of the tennis team, the rifle team, and Gamma Beta Chi Fraternity. He graduated from WMC in 1966 with a BA in Economics.
After college, Robert went to work at Cambridge Wire Cloth where he held several positions over the years, including Production Control, Scheduling Manager, and Assistant Plant Manager. Prior to his retirement in 2009, Robert did product cost estimating as well as conveyor belt engineering.
Robert was known as a man of quiet dignity, a loyal friend, and a devoted family man. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting but later preferred simply being in the woods or duck blind appreciating the serenity of nature. He loved fishing and boating for most of his life, especially admiring the beauty of the Choptank River. Before and during his retirement years, he played golf and loved traveling.
Robert was a life member of Cambridge Elks Lodge 1272, a member of the Sons of the Legion, former member of the Cambridge Yacht Club, and lifetime member of Zion United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Etta Spicer Creighton, to whom he was married June 24, 1967. Also surviving him are a daughter, Mary Margaret (Maggie) Windsor and husband Larry, a son, Laird Everett Creighton and wife Danielle along with five grandchildren, Robert Vaughn Windsor, Brooke Marie Windsor, Austin Thomas Windsor, Alex Bradley Creighton, and Ella Mae Creighton. He is also survived by two sisters, Diana Creighton Trent (Wayne) and Gloria Creighton (Melvin “Zeke” Willey) as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, 612 Locust Street with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Pallbearers will be Vaughn Windsor, Austin Windsor, Alex Creighton, Larry Windsor, Wayne Trent, and Melvin Willey.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Zion United Methodist Church Endowment Fund.
