Robert P. Schmidt

Robert P. Schmidt, 88, of East New Market went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2019.  He was born in Baltimore City on March 13, 1931 to the late Maximillion John Schmidt and Marie Johanna Trageser Schmidt.

Robert, or Bob as he was affectionately known, joined the United States Army.  On June 25, 1955, he married the former Jean Harlow.  He worked for many years and retired from the United States Naval Academy as an electrician.  Bob was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Hurlock, where he was very active and served as Deacon.  He loved his family, and he loved to joke around and have fun.  Above all else, he loved the Lord and bringing the gospel to as many as he could.

Bob is survived by his wife Jean Schmidt of East New Market, his son Wayne Schmidt and wife Kay of East New Market, grandchildren Stephanie Liles and husband Nicholas of Greensboro, MD, Brandon Schmidt and Joshua Schmidt both of Cape Canaveral, FL, great grandchildren Aiden Liles, Parker Liles, Lillianna Schmidt, Isabella Schmidt, and Iris Schmidt, a sister Gloria Hartstock of Parkville, MD, brothers Irvin Schmidt and wife Doris of Bel Air, MD, and Kenneth Schmidt of Lorton, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a daughter Lisa Marie Schmidt, and sisters Kathleen Keaton and Doris Mayhorn.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Schmidt, Joshua Schmidt, Nicholas Liles, Neil Schmidt, Johnny Mayhorn, and Richard Hilbert.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 2, 2019 at 1 PM at Grace Baptist Church in Hurlock, MD with Pastor Dave Stewart officiating.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow the service at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mountain View Bible Camp, 99 Mt View Lane, Danville, PA 17821.
