Robert M. Stokes, Jr., 51, of Baltimore passed away suddenly at his home. He was born in Cambridge on August 18, 1961 to Robert M. Stokes, Sr. and the late Joyce A. Willey Stokes.
He graduated from South Dorchester High School, class of 1979. He was a supply technician at the Dover Air Force Base in the United States Air Force from 1979-1983. He worked as a Director of Operations at Helping Up Mission in Baltimore. He had a great passion for gardening, traveling anywhere that was warm, spending time with his family and friends, cooking and his dogs. He was a member of the Basset Hound Rescue Relief League. Mr. Stokes is survived by his father Robert M. Stokes, Sr. and wife Patricia of Myrtle Beach, SC, sister Teresa Reed and husband George of Hurlock, brother Bryan Stokes and wife Stephanie of Seaford, DE, brother Edward Stokes of Cambridge, half sister, Dianne Hollenshade of Baltimore, nieces Christi Hall and her husband Denny of Cambridge, Brittany Stokes of Cambridge, Christina St. Germain of Baltimore, Robin Tran of Baltimore and nephew Justin Allen of Baltimore along with several great nieces, great nephews and many aunts and uncles. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Eileen Linthicum, paternal grandparents Ernie and Agnes Stokes, an uncle Wayne Stokes and an aunt Cleo Foxwell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to, Helping Up Mission, 1029 East Baltimore St. Baltimore, MD 21202. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.
