Robert W. Willey, Sr

Robert W. Willey, 96, of Linkwood passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Mallard Bay Care Center. He was born in Lakesville on September 3, 1915 and was a son of the late Solomon R. and Edith Insley Willey.

He attended school in Lakesville. He married the former Lena Fitzhugh, who passed away on November 9, 2005. Mr. Willey worked and retired from Delmarva Power. He enjoyed his vegetable and flower garden as well as fishing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children Eldridge W. Willey (Fay) of Madison, Lena Elizabeth Willey (Morris) of Cambridge and Levin I. Willey (Diane) of Linkwood, grandchildren Robert Willey of Vienna, Lori Bell of Cambridge, John S. Willey of Cambridge, Dawn Henry of Cambridge, Bobbie Jean Knauer of Cambridge, Robert W. Willey III of North Carolina and Ryan C. Willey of Salisbury, great grandchildren Jade Henry, Ashley Willey, Matthew Bell, Tyler Henry, Hunter Willey, Jacob Willey, Christian Knauer and Sean Willey, a daughter in law Brenda Willey Fritze of East New Market, two brothers Bernice Willey and Leroy Willey and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Willey is preceded in death by a son Robert W. Willey, Jr., three sisters Miranda Mowbray, Lenore Robinson and Elsie Foxwell and four brothers Emmett Willey, Wilbur Willey, Orville Willey and Daniel Willey.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Henry, Ryan Willey, Robert Willey, Robert W. Willey III, Mike Knauer and John Solomon Willey. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Smith, Gary Smith and Roy Robinson.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 1p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
