Robert R. Windsor

Robert Ronald Windsor, 75 of East New Market went to be home with the Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2012. He was born on March 28, 1936 to the late Willis Jester Windsor and Mildred Tawes Windsor.

Robert attended Crapo School until he went to work as a waterman with his father on the skipjack, the Stanley Norman. He retired from the National Can Corporation in Cambridge, MD after 30 years of service and continued working on the water throughout his lifetime up until losing his eyesight in July of 1990.

Robert is survived by his children, Robin Fairall and husband Byron Fairall of Cambridge, MD, Margaret Smith of Chester, VA, Angelia Asplen and husband Gary of East New Market, MD, Freida Rogers and husband Scott of Cambridge, MD, grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann Vickers, James Bradford Vickers II, Hope Nichole Andrews, and Leann Asplen and step granddaughter Haley Anne Fairall. Surviving brothers include: William Franklin Windsor of Wingate, MD, Vernon O'Neal Windsor of Wingate, MD, William Hudson Windsor and wife Doris Jean of Wingate, MD, and a sister Marion Virginia Powley of Rhodesdale, MD. He is also survived by his first wife of 18 years Margueritte Kinnamon Windsor of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Ruth Ann Windsor and a son Bobby Joe Windsor, brothers Willis Jester Windsor (Buster), Willis Cleveland Windsor (Sonny), Sr., Charles Turner, Sr. and sisters Marybelle Causey, Reba Disharoon, and Elizabeth Pritchett.

Pallbearers will be Byron W. Fairall, Gary L. Asplen, Scott G. Rogers, Jr., James Bradford Vickers, John Edward Renehan, John Edward Renehan II and Robert Willis Bullen.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Jay Hurley and Rev. Douglas M. Ridley officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
