Robin L. "Syd" Rogers

August 30, 1960 — March 20, 2010

Robin L. "Syd" Rogers, 48 of Cambridge, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 20, 2010. She was born in St. Louis, MO on August 30, 1960, and was a daughter of Ada Hogan Paige Segall and the late Sydney Segall.

Robin attended schools in St. Louis and graduated from McCluer High School in Florissant, MO in1978. She also attended Florissant Valley Community College and received her CNA from Hagerstown Community College. Robin also attended classes at Chesapeake College. On August 16, 1980 she was married to Ray M. Rogers. They have made their home in the Cambridge area since 1998. For a number of years she had worked as a nursing assistant. Some years ago she had managed a pizza restaurant in Ohio and had also worked as a cook and a waitress. For several years she had worked as house custodian at the Avalon Theater in Easton. Robin enjoyed drawing, doing cross stitch and taking care of her dogs and cats. One of her favorite titles however was that of Granny Syd. She used to say that being a parent was a wonderful experience, but nothing compared to the joy of being a grandparent. She had been in failing health for the past year when she passed away at her home on Saturday morning.

Survivors include her husband Pastor Ray M. Rogers of Cambridge, one daughter Ruth E. Robbins and her husband Christopher Robbins of Fredericksburg, VA, one son Philip M. Rogers of Cambridge, two grandsons Ty Robbins and Levi Robbins both of Fredericksburg, VA. ,her mother Ada P. Segall of St. Louis, MO, one sister Pamela Bredenkamp and her husband Paul Bredenkamp of Florissant, MO, one niece Tiffany Folkner and her husband Kevin Folkner of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a nephew Nicholas Bredenkamp.

A memorial service will be held at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church on Race Street in Cambridge on Tuesday, April 6 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 777, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
