Roger W. Bloodsworth, Sr., 84 of Wingate passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cambridge on December 26, 1925 and was a son of the late Noble and Minnie McGlaughlin Bloodsworth.
He attended school in Wingate.
On October 13, 1945 he married the former Mary Frances Parks. She passed away on April 16, 2001. He was a boat builder and was the first to build a boat with a pt bow. He was also a waterman. He enjoyed building model boats.
He is survived by three daughters Sharon M. Paul, M. Lorraine Bloodsworth and Janice C. Wilson, two sons Roger W. "Bull" Bloodsworth, Jr. of Cambridge and Michael Lee Bloodsworth of Cambridge, four grandchildren Trisha Howett, Jeff Howett, Joey Bloodsworth and Michael Bloodsworth, a brother Curtis Bloodsworth of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Bloodsworth is preceded in death by a brother William A. Bloodsworth and four sisters Edith Jones, Ethel Andrews, Jeannette Robbins and Pauline North.
Pallbearers will be Joey Bloodsworth, Steve Bloodsworth, David Bloodsworth, Robbie Bullen, Ell Jones, Jr. and William Windsor.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Richard Prahl officiating. Burial will follow at Parks Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
