Ronald R. “Byrd” Burton, 78, of East New Market passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at UMSMC at Dorchester. He was born in Easton on March 9, 1937 and was a son of the late Oden and Minnie Kuebler Burton.

Byrd graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1955. He served in the Army National Guard. On March 26, 1981, he married the former Carol Johnson. Byrd was employed and retired from Super Fresh with 34 years of service. He enjoyed collecting coins, stamps and model trains. Byrd was a member of the UFCW, Cambridge Jaycees, Cambridge Elks and the Cambridge Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife Carol Burton of East New Market, a daughter Cynthia Burton of Baltimore, stepdaughter Lisa Fretz of Hurlock, a stepson Joe Magrogan of Hudson, three grandchildren Brett Magrogan, Hilary Brooks and Mitchell Magrogan, four great grandchildren, a brother Wylie Burton and wife Shirley of Laurel, DE and two nieces Robin Burton and Dawn Turner.

Pallbearers will be Gene Heflin, Brett Magrogan, Joe Magrogan, Chem Albites, Robby Faulkner and Tommy Sard.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Dale Krotee officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
