Ronald E. Spear, 69, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at his home. He was born in Easton on April 29, 1944 and was the son of the late Edward Samuel Spear and Dorothy Prettyman Spear.
He graduated from Cambridge High School. Mr. Spear was owner/operator of Choptank Marine Service. In his earlier years he was an all star pitcher for the Cambridge Baseball League. Mr. Spear married his long time companion the former Beverly Murphy on October 25, 2008. They shared 24 years together. Mr. Spear was avid NASCAR and a Dale Earnhardt fan. He also enjoyed being on the water. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Association. He is survived by his wife Beverly Dayton Spear of Cambridge, stepdaughters Christy Miller and husband Jim of Cambridge and Cheri Allen and husband Bobby of Cambridge, step grandchildren Erica Miller, Jenna Miller, Aubrey Miller, Jacob Miller, Kayla Allen, Kathryn Allen and Karlie Allen, sister Lois Webster and husband Roland of Cambridge, nephews Kevin and Greg Webster both of Linkwood.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Webster, J.C. Garing, Robert Owens, Bobby Allen, Jim Miller and Willie Jones.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Levin M. Spear officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the James B. Richardson Foundation, P.O.
