Rosa Mae (Parks) Pritchett

November 22, 1917 — February 2, 2018

Rosa Mae Pritchett, 100, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Wingate on November 22, 1917 and was a daughter of the late Robert J. Parks, Jr. and Annie Pritchett Parks.

Mrs. Pritchett attended schools in Wingate and graduated from Crapo High School in 1934. She married Austin Eugene Pritchett on August 1, 1959 and he passed away in 1975. Mrs. Pritchett had worked in the seafood factory, Roy Rob and at Airpax as an inspector. She and her husband operated the Stone House in Wingate until 1976. Mrs. Pritchett was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lakes & Straits Volunteer Fire Company and also served as an officer. She was also known for her fried oysters and sweet potato rolls. Some years, she did the oysters and rolls at the dinners that helped purchase the first uniforms for the Cambridge High School Band. Mrs. Pritchett enjoyed doing word search books, embroidering, knitting, quilting, cooking, yard sales, antiquing and watching the birds. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter Peggy MacLauchlan and husband Mack of Cambridge, four grandchildren Lisa Todd of Cambridge, Lanai Riggin and husband Kyle of Hurlock, Beverly Ann Powley of Cambridge and Carl D. Powley, Jr. of Cambridge, two step grandchildren Robert “David” MacLauchlan and James MacLauchlan “Mackey”, a special friend Barbie Phillips, six great grandchildren D.J. Fitzhugh of Easton, Brandon Fitzhugh of Church Creek, Kylie Riggin, Erin Riggin and Hayley Riggin all of Hurlock, and Michelle Robinson of Cambridge, three step great grandchildren Robbie MacLauchlan of Wingate, Hunter MacLauchlan of Wingate, and Amanda MacLauchlan of Cambridge, six great great grandchildren Sierra Tippett, McKayla Robinson, Austin Robinson, Emily Rose Fitzhugh, and Gavin Lee Fitzhugh. She is also survived by two sisters Doris Abbott of Robbins and Carolyn Armiger of Cambridge and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Pritchett is preceded in death by a son Carl D. Powley, Sr., a sister Kathleen Smith, four brothers Robert Parks, Kenneth Parks, Calvert Parks and Marvin Parks.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Riggin, DJ Fitzhugh, Brandon Fitzhugh, Wayne Custis, Toby Custis, JR Abbott and Bruce Abbott.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11 am at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
