Rosalie B. "Topsy" Wingate, 74, of Linkwood passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010 at her home. She was born in Cambridge on July 24, 1936 and was a daughter of the late John H. Niblett, Sr. and Lillie Mae Bell Niblett.
Mrs. Wingate attended schools in Cambridge. On November 12, 1954 she married Edgar W. Wingate, Sr. He passed away on December 29, 1996. Mrs. Wingate worked at Rob Roy, Airpax, Salvation Army Thrift Store and Commander Garment. She enjoyed hanging out with her silly sisters, reading and hanging out at the local Wal-Mart. Mrs. Wingate also enjoyed her family dinners. She was a member of the Salvation Army for 67 years and the Salvation Army Home League and Seniors Group.
She is survived by two sons Edgar W. Wingate, Jr. and wife Traci of Cambridge and Richard A. Wingate and wife Judy of Linkwood, two grandchildren Matthew Wingate of Cambridge and Jessica Wingate of Linkwood, a brother Levin W. Niblett, Sr. of Cambridge, two sisters June Elzey of Cambridge and Dorothy "Kitty" Travers of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Beside her parents, Mrs. Wingate is preceded in death by a brother John H. Niblett, Jr. and a sister Frances Spear.
Pallbearers will be David Elzey, Otis Elzey, Tommy Foxwell, Tommy Niblett, Dickie Warfield and Pete Niblett.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. with Capt. Richard New officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
