Roy K. Newman

Roy K. Newman, 88, of Rhodesdale passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge. He was born in Washington County, VA on December 19, 1935 and was a son of the late Lacy Frank Newman and Ella Frye Newman.

He served in the U.S. Army. On December 15, 1961 he married the former Nancy Lee Bock who passed away on Dec. 14, 2020. He owned and operated Roy’s Automotive and Heavy Equipment. Mr. Newman was a lead guitarist for several Country Singers including Waylon Jennings, Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard. He was a member of the American Legion in Glen Burnie and the Moose in Glen Burnie.

He is survived by a sister Sharon Newman Puckett, his children Dayna Horne, T. Kaye Barnett, Shana Newman, Sherry Brehm, Nasherra Newman, Mason Newman, Tara Morris and Cierra Newman, 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. 

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 7pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, 63040 Eldorado Road, Rhodesdale, MD 21659. Pastor George Simmons will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
