Ruth L. "Dolly" Tolley

June 20, 1929 — April 13, 2013

Ruth L. "Dolly" Tolley, 83, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at her home. She was born in Hoopers Island to the late Daniel and Elba Flowers Tall.

She graduated from Hoopers Island High School. She worked as a cook at Hoopers Island Elementary School, a crab picker at local crab factories and was a homemaker. Mrs. Tolley married Dewey T. Tolley in 1947, who passed away on November 17, 2005. They were married for 58 years. She was a devoted member to the Riverside Wesleyan Church, and a member of The Gideon's International. She enjoyed sewing, but most of all loved to spend time with her family.

Mrs. Tolley is survived by three sons Daniel Tolley of Toddville, Martin Tolley and wife Glenda of Hoopers Island and Phillip Tolley and wife Beth of Church Creek, three grandchildren Amber McGinnis of Cambridge, Nicole Foxwell of Secretary and Lindsey Tolley of Church Creek, three great grandchildren Quinn McGinnis, Daniel McGinnis and Kendall Foxwell, one sister Isabelle Rippons, special friends Melva Simmons, John and Priscilla Brown and many neighbors, three special caregivers Bonnie Gore, Carroll Tyler, and Mary Ann Czawiytks along with all of her other caregivers and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson Phillip Lee Tolley, a sister Florence Johnson and a daughter in law Diane Tolley.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Tolley, Martin Tolley, Phillip Tolley, Steve Foxwell, Irvin Rippons, Jr., and Sean McGinnis. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Ruark, Eddie Dean, David Wooten, Wayne Brittingham, Reggie Phillips and John Mark Johnson.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Wesleyan Church in Fishing Creek with Rev. James M. Griffin officiating. Interment will be private. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Wesleyan Church, 1114 Keys Rd., Fishing Creek MD 21634.
