S. Donald Elzey

S. Donald Elzey, 83, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at his home. He was born on February 5, 1930 in Cambridge and was a son of the late Ann Smith Coufal.

Mr. Elzey graduated from Cambridge High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Korean Conflict. On December 21, 1951, he married the former Marian Hurley, who passed away on July 14, 2003. On April 29, 2006, he married the former Brenda Britti. Mr. Elzey worked for Delmarva Power for 35 years and retired in 1988. He enjoyed hydroplane racing and help in the pit with Sarge and Skeeter Johnson. He also was an avid NASCAR fan. Mr. Elzey was a member of the Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW and the American Legion Post 91.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Elzey of Cambridge, a daughter Stephanie Corkran and husband Richard of Cambridge, two grandchildren Meghan and Kelsey Mills, stepdaughter Jenny Brown and husband Joseph of Hurlock and a half sister Elaine O'Sullivan of Gaithersburg, MD.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Family will receive friends from 12 to 1 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
