Samuel Thomas Murphy, Jr., "Murphy" 65, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at UMSMC at Easton. He was born in Easton on June 22, 1950 and was a son of the late Samuel T. Murphy, Sr. and Anna Hoover Murphy.
Murphy graduated from St. Michael's High School. On February 23, 1991, he married the former Deborah North. He was a waterman and a business owner in Cambridge. Murphy enjoyed crabbing and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Deborah Murphy of Cambridge, four children Anna Marie Murphy (Billy) of Greensboro, Samuel Tom Murphy III (Renee) of Wisconsin, Rebecca Murphy (Gary) of Cape St. Claire, Mandy Peters (Rick) of Cambridge, a special grandson whom he thought of as a son Zachary "Zach" Peters, other grandchildren Josh Murphy, Jason Harper, Nicholas Harper, Nathan Quinn, Amanda Murphy, Hunter Murphy, Aubrey Licata , Dominick Bollati, Myra Peters, a great granddaughter Sawyer Wyer, and three sisters Brenda Anderson, Michelle Mansfield, Linda Alejandro, father in law Herbert North, Jr., brother in law Tim North, two sisters in law Terri Greene and Pam Elliott and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special friend Sandra Mena'Prez, and also his best friend his lab Dixie. Besides his parents, Mr. Murphy is preceded in death by three brothers Bruce Murphy, Michael Murphy and Ricky Murphy.
Pallbearers will be Tim North, Zach Peters, Billy Gardner, Jason Harper, Rick Garrett and Mike Mansfield.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 1 pm. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. Interment will be private. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 100 Painters Mill Road, Suite 800, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
