Sandra H. Brittingham, 66, of East New Market passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was born on June 22, 1944 in Rushden, Northamptonshire, England and was a daughter of the late Stanley and Edith Partridge Matson.

Mrs. Brittingham graduated from Elderton Joint Junior Senior High School class of 1962 in Elderton, PA. A On October 5, 1968 she married Jesse L. Brittingham, Sr. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, canning vegetables, reading and cooking.A

She is survived by her husband Jesse L. Brittingham, Sr. of East New Market, three children Jesse L. "Jay" Brittingham, Jr. and wife Penny of Cambridge, Michael M. Brittingham and wife Jeni Brittingham of Linkwood and Amanda K. Purnell and husband Shannon of East New Market, two step daughters Dawn Shorter of Cambridge and Lisa D'Onofrio of East New Market, seven grandchildren Matthew, Michael G., Jessica, Andrew, Brandon, Ashley and Emily Brittingham, 9 step grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, a sister Joan Kunkle of Spring Church, PA and two brothers Jack and Jerry Matson both of Spring Church, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Brittingham, Michael G. Brittingham, Lucas Patrick, BJ Middleton, James Keyser, Frank Whirley, Scott Elzey and Troy Hubbard.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Fred Bahr officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, c/o Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
