Sandra J. Hare

Sandra J. Hare, 80 of Hurlock passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025. She was born in Cambridge on September 22, 1944 and was a daughter of the late Walter O. and Sarah Cheezum Abbott.

Mrs. Hare graduated from Cambridge High School class 1962. She worked at Easton Memorial Hospital for 12 years and she also cleaned houses. She enjoyed yard sales, sewing and line dancing. Mrs. Hare was a member of the Hurlock American Legion Post 243.

She is survived by her companion Roger Layton of Salisbury, three step children Walter Hare and wife Janet of Franklin, NC, Michael Hare and wife Lisa of East New Market and Paula McGraw and husband James of Aspers, PA, a grandson Ryan Hare, a sister Terry Abbott of Hurlock, four nephews Walter Michael Abbott, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Cambridge, Richard Roland Abbott and wife Lisa of Crapo, Walter Oliver Abbott of Trappe, and JR Cantville of Cordova and two nieces Elizabeth Abbott of Golden Hill and Linda Anderson of Federalsburg. Besides her parents, Mrs. Hare is preceded in death by a brother Walter Michael Abbott, Sr.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 11am at East New Market Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
