She attended schools in Cambridge. Mrs. Dayton had worked as a seamstress at Jodi's Shirt Factory, Rob Roy in Cambridge for 17 years and later worked in the Blind Industries Services in Salisbury as a line worker until she retired in 1989. Some years ago she enjoyed square dancing and spending time with her friends. She was attending Riverton United Methodist Church. She had been in failing health since March and had been a patient at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for the past two weeks where she passed away on Friday evening.
Survivors include a sister Mary Lane of Preston, a niece Emily Blades of Preston and a nephew Brent Blades of Preston. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Culver, two brothers Gordon and Harold Vickers.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Nevin Crouse and the Rev. James Penuel officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Pallbearers will be Randall Hughes, Kenneth Hughes, H. L. McFarlane, Larry Parsons, David Parsons and Brent Blades.
