Sewell L. Spedden, Jr., 84, of Cassons Neck passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on December 5, 1938 and was a son of the late Sewell L. Spedden, Sr. and Clara Beckwith Spedden.
Mr. Spedden graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1956. He served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Spedden worked for a short period of time with the Maryland State Police and Maryland Department of Natural Resource and later at Perdue as President of the Feed and Grain until he retired on January 1, 1994. Sewell was an avid hunter and traveled the world hunting with his family and special friend Phil Weeks.
He is survived by a daughter Susan Eliason and husband Keith of Virginia Beach, VA and son Steven Spedden of Salisbury, two grandchildren Connor and Sean Eliason, a brother Phillip Spedden and wife Charlotte of Cambridge, four sisters Pat Tolley of Cambridge, Barbara Wilson of Cambridge, Betty Smith of Cambridge, Eleanor Wheatley of Cambridge and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chip Graham, Jonathon Barnette, Mike Wiginton, Walter Heiges, Kenny McDonald and Phil Weeks.
A very special thank you to Coastal Hospice staff and friends that helped with his care.
Funeral services will be private at Spedden Seward Cemetery with Chaplain Gary Stewart officiating. There will be a celebration of life on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 11:30 am at the Neck District Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or to the Neck District Fire Company, 945 Cooks Point Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
