Seymore "Sonny" W. Ewell, Jr.

Seymore “Sonny” W. Ewell, Jr., 85 of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Cambridge on April 29, 1932 and was a son of the late Seymore W. Ewell, Sr. and Mamie Moran Ewell.

He graduated from Wilmington High School in Wilmington, DE. Mr. Ewell worked at Cambridge Wire Cloth 38 1/2 years as a fabrication supervisor. On January 16, 1988, he married the former Jeanne Carroll. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wood carving.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne Ewell of Cambridge, a daughter Heather Bender and husband Nathan E. Bender of Laramie, Wyoming, two grandchildren Madeline and Gordon Bender, a brother Gary I. Ewell of Selbyville, DE and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Ewell is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11 am at White Haven United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or to White Haven United Methodist Church, c/o Tim Willey, 4360 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
