Sheldon R. Vickers, Sr., 81, of Church Creek passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at UMSMC at Dorchester. He was born on May 2, 1933 in Cambridge and was a son of the late Lee Rue Vickers and Mary Emma Wheatley Vickers.
Mr. Vickers graduated from Cambridge High School. On April 10, 1954, he married the former Patsy Porter, who passed away on December 22, 1999. In his earlier years, he worked with his father at the General Store in Church Creek and had also farmed his whole life. He enjoyed collecting antiques, going to auctions, shooting sporting clays, hunting and fishing. Mr. Vickers was a member of White Haven United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter Shelley Smith and husband Wayne of Church Creek, two granddaughters Samantha Aylor and fiancée Michael Wroten of Church Creek and Heather Aylor of Houston, TX. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Vickers is preceded in death by two infant sisters and a son Sheldon R. Vickers, Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 1 p.m. at White Haven United Methodist Church in Church Creek with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the White Haven United Methodist Church, c/o Jeanne Ewell, 5134 Paw Paw Point Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to Church Creek Volunteer Fire Company, P.O.
