Shirley S. James

Shirley S. James, 66, of Berlin passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Baltimore on October 12, 1945 to the late Darius H. and Katharine Ozarski Slacum.
Mrs. James graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1963. She married William L. "Hess" James on February 3, 1974. She worked as a secretary in the Radiology Department at Dorchester General Hospital. Later, she worked for Robert Wilson as a Certified Public Accountant. Mrs. James and her husband moved to Berlin in 1982. She also worked at the Super Fresh in Ocean City.
She is survived by her husband William L. "Hess" James, an aunt Marian Slacum of Cambridge, an uncle Harry Slacum of West Virginia, two cousins Carrie Hertel and husband John and their children Madeline and Evan of East New Market and Brian Slacum and his children Cheryl and Christopher, and a step son Mike James and wife Natalie of Cambridge.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 2 pm at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery with Rev. A Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mallard Bay Care Center, c/o Activities Department, 520 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
