Soile T. (Teramaa) Burns

Soile T. Burns, 85, Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge. She was born in Porvoo, Finland on September 16, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Yrjo and Aili Luoto Teramaa.

She attended schools and college in Finland. Mrs. Burns also studied Piano at Sibelius Academy in Finland. She taught at a Montessori school for a couple of years, owner/operator of her knitting business called the Knitting Network and also taught piano. Mrs. Burns enjoyed knitting, playing the piano, quilting, and reading.  She was a member of the Finlandia Foundation.

She is survived by her husband William Burns of Cambridge, two sons James Burns and wife Beth of Ft. Meyers, FL, David Burns and wife Cindy of Cambridge, and a daughter Maija Jackson and husband Thomas of Ruxton, MD, six grandchildren Amy, Brodie, Sam, Erika, Braith and Riley, a brother Seppo Teramaa of Finland and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Mrs. Burns is preceded in death by a son Alan Burns and a sister Tuula Jokinen.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association, 909 Progress Circle Ste. 400, Salisbury, MD 21804. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
