S. Wanda Lindner, 97, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Mercer County, West Virginia on September 2, 1923 and was a daughter of the late Walter McKinley Akers and Hazel Hodges Akers.
She attended schools in West Virginia where she graduated from High School in 1941. After high school, she attended a trade school and became a inspector at Eastern Aircraft in Baltimore in May of 1943. There she met and married William J. Lindner on August 4, 1945. They moved to the Lindner Family Farm in Dorchester County. Later she assisted her husband and son on the farm. She had been raised in the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her two daughters Cynthia L. Tall and her husband Dale Tall of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Zanna Reitz and her husband David Reitz of Pennsylvania, one son William J. Lindner, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Cambridge, three grandchildren Michael W. Tall and son Easton of Charleston S.C., Johanna Colburn Hamilton and husband Bobby and their daughter Saylor of North Carolina, and Katie Scarlett Bartlinski and husband Nick and their daughter Mallory of Westminster, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers Gaythel Akers, Vencil Akers and Kent Akers, a nephew Jerry Akers, and grandson Christopher Kyle Lindner.
Pallbearers will be William Lindner, Jr., Charles Tinley, Nick Bartlinski, Richard Colburn, Tommy Cornish, and George Brode.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 1 pm at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Open Bible Academy, 1619 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
