Sylvia Louise (Cady) Thomas

Sylvia Louise Thomas - an incredible woman, wife, Mother & friend; passed with peace & grace on July 25, 2018.

Syl was born August 8, 1946 to the late Renfrew & Evelyn Cady. She served in the US Army, attended Johnson State College and was a retired Addictions Counselor & Clinical Supervisor for Talbot & Queen Anne Counties.

She loved a good book. Was a published poet. Was proud to be a recovering alcoholic with 32 years of sobriety & was passionate about working with addicts. She adored cats, especially her rescue "Whisper". She had a whimsical side that made her a favorite Aunt, Gram & Granny. She loved the green mountains of VT, a cool ocean breeze, Motown & any shade of the color blue. Sylvia was a devoted Mom & Wife that loved deeply & unselfishly, laughed loudly & unapologetically, spoke her mind & stood her ground.

Sylvia was preceded in death by a grandson; Dustin Haddaway. She is survived by her loving husband Gerald, her daughter Shannon Haddaway (Dwayne), her stepchildren Gerald (April) Thomas, Jr. and Melissa Thomas Brown of MD. Her quick wit, warm smile and genuine heart will be forever remembered by family & friends.

A gathering in Syl's memory will be held on Wed., August 1st, 5-7pm at Magnolia Manor @ Londonderry in Easton, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donate to your local animal rescue or veteran’s charity, curl up with a good book, or tell a great joke... she would have liked that. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
