Tara (Whitby) Burton

Tara Leigh Burton (Whitby), born May 1, 1983, was the daughter of James A. Whitby, Jr. and Karen Ferguson Carroll. She passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023 at the age of 39.

She is survived by her husband and love of her life, Michael Burton, who she married on September 14, 2022, a daughter Ashlie Eskew and husband Monty of Easton, and a son Jeremy Burton and fiancée Zandra of Pittsburgh, a grandson Toby Hughes, her father Jimmy Whitby, Jr. and wife Kathy of Preston, her mother Karen Carroll and husband Mark of Centreville, a sister Jessica Harrison of Preston, a brother Mark Harrison and wife Tyler of Delmar, MD,, grandparents Harriet and Ed Caporin and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who were very dear to her.

After graduating from Easton High School in 2001 and Delmarva Beauty Academy in 2011, Tara was owner and operator of Shear Attitude Salon in Cambridge, then Easton. She loved helping her clients feel beautiful, inside and out.

Some of Tara’s greatest joy came from being a “Titi”, to her many nieces, nephews & godchildren. Tara was her happiest in the sun, spending those warm moments with her family and friends. She had a tremendous passion for helping others and did so selflessly.

To continue Tara’s legacy for helping others, “Titi’s Kids” a fund for supporting local children is being created. Checks and donations can be mailed to “Titi’s Kids” in care of Michael Burton at P.O. Box 1211 Easton, MD 21601

Services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 1 pm at Saint’s Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Easton with Rev. William Wheatley officiating. Interment will be private at New Springhill. Family will receive friends from 11 am to 1pm. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Smith, Michael Breeding, Doug Burton Jr., Craig Tatum, JC Davis, Alex Burton, RJ Jones, and Jeff Shorter.
