Thelma Mae Willey, 83 of Cambridge, passed away at the Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge on Saturday April 30, 2011. She was born in Cambridge on October 3, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Thurman and Lillian Crosby Robbins. She attended schools in Cambridge. Some years ago she had worked at McCrory's in Cambridge and later had worked at Rob Roy. She had also worked as a crab picker. On November 24, 1955 she was married to Joseph V. Willey, Sr. Mr. Willey passed away on January 4, 2005. Mrs. Willey enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren, playing Bingo and bowling. Mrs. Willey had been in failing health for the past several months, and had been a resident at the John B. Parsons Assisted Living in Salisbury, and for the past month she had been a resident at the Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge.
Survivors include two daughters Robin McGrath and her husband Robert McGrath, Sr. of East New Market and Patti Stump and her husband Paul Stump, Sr. of Cambridge, one son Joseph V. Willey, Jr. and his wife Donna Willey of Cambridge, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three sisters Gladys Baker of Michigan, Doris Cannon of Cambridge and Pat Whaples of Cambridge and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. David Wooten officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Robert McGrath, Sr., Robert McGrath, Jr., Anthony Rippons, Jr., Wayne Willey, Joseph V. Willey, III, Alan Cannon, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Wes Cannon.
