Thomas M. "Mike" Coghlan, Sr., 51, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at UMSMC at Dorchester. He was born in Washington, D.C. on May 26, 1962 to Thomas F. and Vivian R. Judge Coghlan, Jr.
Mike graduated from North Wood High School in Silver Spring and also attended Montgomery College in Rockville. He was an auto mechanic. Mike had a passion for dirt track racing and adored his grandchildren. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.
Mike is survived by two children Thomas M. "Mikie" Coghlan, Jr. of Florida and Crystal Coghlan of Cambridge, three grandchildren Anthony, April and Keith, his parents Thomas and Vivian Coghlan of Cambridge, two uncles Glen Judge and Joe Judge both of Pine Grove, West Virginia and several cousins. Mike is preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Jeanmarie Coghlan, paternal grandparents Thomas F. and Jean McDonald Coghlan, Sr., and maternal grandparents Glen and Evelyn Judge.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD with Pastor Steve Trice officiating. Family will receive friends a half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, P.O. Box 688, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
