Thomas L. Hooper Jr. (Tommy), age 88, passed away on June 7, 2015, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro, TN.

He was the son of the late Thomas L. Hooper Sr. and Evelyn Wroten Hooper and was a native of Cambridge,   MD.   Tommy was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, served on the Cambridge City Council, but was probably best known as the owner of Tommy's Sporting Goods, where he gave fishing tips, hunting advice, and outfitted many a successful fisherman and hunter on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Tommy was preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn Davis (Elmer) Lewis, of Cambridge, MD, daughter Donna Marie (Skip) Cox of Easton, MD, and 2 grandsons, John Andrew Hooper and Robert James Hooper of Murfreesboro, TN.

Mr. Hooper is survived by his wife of 65 years, Julia Marie (Ward) Hooper. He is also survived by a brother, Fred W. (Gail) Hooper of Cambridge; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas L. and Robbie McDowell Hooper of Murfreesboro; daughter Sandra Lynn Hooper of Manhattan; and 3 grandsons, Thomas Ross Hooper (Stephanie Feingold) of Jersey City, NJ, Matthew Ward Hooper of Boca Raton, FL, and Michael Lee (Caroline Low) Hooper of Murfreesboro, TN, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tommy was happiest on the water, fishing with his friends.

The family would like to thank AdamsPlace, the TN State Veterans Home and Alive Hospice for their care of Tommy.

A funeral service will be held at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, MD on Friday June 12 at 12:30 PM with visitation at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at the Maryland Eastern-Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.
