Thomas Keene Applegarth, 60, of Church Creek passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 at his home. He was born on January 19, 1964 in New York City and was a son of Sara McClaran Applegarth and the late Commander Samuel Hubert Applegarth, Jr.

Mr. Applegarth graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School class of 1982. He joined the Submarine Service of the U.S. Navy in 1984 and as stationed in Charleston, S.C. Mr. Applegarth was assigned to the USS Sunfish SSN649, a Sturgeon Class Nuclear Powered fast attack submarine as a Quartermaster. After the service, Mr. Applegarth worked as a waterman, then as a land surveyor for the State of Maryland Engineering & Construction before retiring in 2022 due to his health.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the Coastal Hospice Staff for the wonderful care they provided.

He is survived by his wife Katherine "K.D." Applegarth, a daughter Elizabeth Applegarth (Ben Holden), sisters Sara Joyner, and Susan Goad, brother Hubert Applegarth III, nieces, nephews, in laws and a dear friend Joe Hayden.

Pallbearers will be Joe Hayden, Joey Hayden, Joel Hayden, Ben Holden, Jim Joyner and Mark Joyner. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 12pm at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or to St. Judes. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
